A study shows that fear of punishment helps reduce economic fraud
Research carried out by scientists at the Experimental Economics Laboratory of the Universitat Jaume I de Castelló (UJI) reveals that people's fear of being punished for lying can reduce economic fraud in relationships characterised by asymmetric information, such as the customer-employee relationship in a bank. The work designs a method for analysing the mechanisms of behaviour related to honesty. Its conclusions have been published in the scientific journal PLOS ONE.
